Tuesday at Vipingo

Today we finished seeing the children at Crossroads Academy in Vipingo. Yesterday we were able to see the 3 kindergarten classes (called KG 1, KG 2 & KG 3  & Standard 1 & 2 . Ages in the KG classes are approximately 4-6 but may also be a year or 2 older. Today we had to finish up with Standard 3 & 4 (3rd & 4th grades). Then we saw teachers, Bible College students & members of the community. Missionary Jim Horne has his bible college located at Vipingo's center. These Kenyan men become pastors & start churches in Kenya.
The team did a great job working through the medical needs of many people today. We were happy to be able to help with follow up on a child who may have had a serious condition. Kristen & Paul O. (Jim's assistant) took her to a local clinic to get some labtests done. Can you believe that for $20 she was able to get 3 ordered labs done?!! Some team members estimated the cost in the US to be over $1000. Well, anyways she did not have appendicitis as was suspected, so we were relieved to hear that. She will be fine.
A few team members have stayed back at the hotel due to some sicknesses, but are rebounding well. Thankfully Brandon was dropping IV's like they were hot.... Nice Job! I've never felt so safe in Africa with all of these amazingly talented medical professionals!
There is such a great need for even the very basic health care here. My prayer is that this trip is just the beginning of great things our big God has in mind for our sweet little kids here. Please pray for this group for health & well being as we wrap up our medical clinics tomorrow. So much processing and changes will be in our futures because of this experience. Emotional & physical exhaustion is sure to follow. Pray for our team and for God to lead us to what he has planned for us personally as well as bringing more health care to these kids that deserve the very best.
